To Kill a Mockingbird - At The Historic Artcraft Theatre
*The event has already taken place on this date: Sat, 01/20/2024
Based on the timeless Harper Lee novel, To Kill a Mockingbird takes a look at a small Alabama town through the eyes of Scout Finch, daughter of defense attorney Atticus Finch. Embroiled in a contentious, racially-charged criminal trial, Atticus also works to teach his children and community valuable life lessons about prejudice and tolerance.
Why we're showing it: A long-time staple of high school reading lists, To Kill a Mockingbird is a landmark work of American fiction, exploring childhood, racial tension and virtuous living. The film adaptation features legendary actor Gregory Peck's signature role and is just as heralded as the book.
See the movie, watch the stage production: We’re thrilled to partner with Broadway in Indianapolis to offer a stage and screen package for “To Kill a Mockingbird.” Don't pass up this chance at a great ticket package to see the film and the stage production in January from Broadway in Indianapolis and The Historic Artcraft Theatre! https://am.ticketmaster.com/baaind/promotional-page?id=MTgx
But wait, there's more: The Artcraft Book Club meeting will be held at 6:15 p.m. on Friday, in the Artcraft cottage at 49 E Madison Street. Presented in partnership with the Wild Geese Bookshop (just across the street from the cottage), the Artcraft Book Club explores the relationship between the written word and cinema, connecting adapted films with their source material. To attend, purchase the Friday, 6:15 p.m. ticket (which includes entry to the film). Attendance is limited to 15 people. FHI members can reserve up to 2 complimentary tickets. Books may be purchased in advance from the Wild Geese Bookshop - book purchase is not required to attend. The Book Club will include in-depth discussions including plot points, so please be aware if you have not yet seen the film or read the book.
