Vintage Movie Night is a monthly series that features film historian and preservationist Eric Grayson as he presents a series of unique and rare vintage film titles. Due to COVID-19, Vintage Movie Night will now take place outside the Garfield Park Arts Center, in the south end of the parking lot, facing the Corporate Shelter (see map in discussion). These movies will be free to guests through September, but there will be a donation option available: garfieldparkindy.org/product/giving-to-garfield/ (If you wish to donate, please specify that your gift is for the Arts Center)
The movie will start when it's dark (around 9:15-9:30 PM), but guests can arrive as early as 8:30 PM to enjoy the park! Restrooms are only available through the outdoor port-o-lets. There is one located right by the parking lot next to the Corporate Shelter. Through September, there will be no concessions available. Guests are welcome to bring their own coolers of food and non-alcoholic beverages. Please note alcohol is not permitted. Lastly, per the Marion County Public Health Department, face masks are mandated for all residents when they are inside public buildings and/or unable to maintain adequate social distancing (minimum six feet) outdoors.

The Kentuckian (1955)
This rare technicolor print features actors Burt Lancaster and Walter Matthau with portions of the film shot in Indiana at Lincoln Pioneer Village. Upstanding widower "Big Eli" Wakefield (Burt Lancaster) decides to move from Kentucky further west to Texas. He undertakes the journey with just his young son "Little Eli" (Donald MacDonald), but en route they pick up friends like indentured servant Hannah (Dianne Foster) and schoolmarm Susie (Diana Lynn), a potential love interest. This motley crew's path is difficult, and they face many obstacles, not the least of which is nasty frontiersman Stan Bodine (Walter Matthau).
