Spring Break Discovery Camps in a Box: Unpack the Science

When school is out, Discovery Camps at The Health Museum are in! Spend your spring break with us from the comfort of your own home! Keep your kids engaged and learning with Discovery Camps in A Box! Discovery Camps in A Box is a series of health-themed boxes that have been designed to keep children engaged in STEM activities while learning about medical science and the human body. Through hands-on learning and experimentation, campers learn about science, technology, engineering, and math in a fun and intuitive way. Kids will have intelligent fun, make new “virtual” friends, and make the most out of their spring break!
With all-new camps, our skilled educators deliver lessons virtually and are available live to help provide targeted guidance and assistance to students as they work through awesome activities and projects. Best of all, students get the chance to socialize with other like-minded kids and feel connected to a community!
Each camp takes place at the same time every day for a full week for 1 hour. Camps for ages 5–7 year-olds will take place at the same time every day for a full week for 30 minutes
Camp course options will include:
- Children 5-7 years-old || March 15-19, 2021 from 10:00 am-10:30 am
Young Brainiacs – What weighs three pounds, feels like oatmeal, and needs about 8 hours of sleep a night? Your brain, that's what! Want to know more about the outrageous organ inside of your head? You'll view a real human brain, see a sheep brain dissection, learn about your senses, and even make an edible neutron and lots more in this incredible camp for the aspiring brain surgeons out there! - Children 8-10 years-old || March 15-19, 2021 from 11:30 am-12:30 pm
Camp Neuron Camp in a Box – Did you know that the average adult brain approximately weighs over 3 pounds? Or that there are over 100 million neurons in your brain? In Camp Neuron discover the exciting world of the brain! Camp Neuron offers an opportunity for immersion into neuroscience. Campers will examine the anatomy of the brain, , engage in a sheep brain dissection, explore topics such as: sensations and perceptions, learning and memory; create an neuron and lots more in this incredible camp!! - Children 11-13 years-old || March 15-19, 2021 from 1:30 pm-2:30 pm
Mini Medical School - Neuroanatomy Camp in a Box – In our Mini Medical School Neuroanatomy box, campers will immerse themselves into the world of neuroscience! Throughout the week campers will explore the anatomy of the nervous system and how this amazing circuit keeps our bodies in communicating with other body systems. Campers will examine a real human brain, learn important first aid skills, practice basic surgical skills including suturing and stitching, experience a hands-on dissection of a sheep brain and explore topics such as: neuroanatomy, brain and spinal cord injuries, brain plasticity, sensations and perceptions and lots more in this incredible camp for the aspiring neuroscientist out there!
All specific camp materials will be provided except for liquids and basic school supplies. Each Discovery Camps in A Box includes:
- 3 Science activities/experiments
- 1 Hour of educational engagement for your child every day for one week
- Live interaction with one of our educators
- Individual supply boxes with class-specific supplies
The Cost to register ranges from $65.00 to $90.00 for members and from $75.00 to $100.00 for non-members. Registration is required one week in advance, and enrollment for all camps closes at 11:59 p.m. the Monday prior to the start of the individual camps.
