DAR 2024 Colonial Faire

The Caroline Scott Harrison Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR) invites the community to its 2024 Colonial Faire, a free event celebrating the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence. Held Saturday, April 27, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 4635 North Illinois Street, Indianapolis, the faire features 18th-century-themed activities, live entertainment, and historical reenactments. Guests can enjoy performances by the Herron High School String Quartet, Voyageur Ancient Fife and Drum Corps, and Fiddlesticks Youth Fiddlers. Highlights include hands-on demonstrations like wool weaving, broom making, and hide tanning, along with STEM and art activities, Revolutionary War exhibits, and a spy mission for George Washington. Families can meet historical figures such as Martha Washington, Deborah Sampson, and Polly Cooper. Parking is available along Illinois Street, and donations are encouraged.

- The Caroline Scott Harrison Chapter National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR) is hosting a 2024 Colonial Faire. This community event will feature 18th century themed activities and demonstrations, live entertainment, speeches by colonial figures, a secret spy mission and more. This event is inspired by the 250th anniversary of the Signing of the Declaration of Independence (official anniversity 2026)
- The event for youngsters and families will be held Saturday April 27th, 9 am - 5 pm on the grounds of the CSH Chapter House, located at 4635 North Illinois Street, Indianapolis. The event is free, donations encouraged.
- Parking will be along Illinois Street.
- Musical Entertainment to include the Herron High School String Quartet, Voyageur Ancient Fife and Drum Corps, and Fiddlesticks Youth Fiddlers.
- Meet Martha Washington, Deborah Sampson, Polly Cooper and other key people in the Revolutionary War efforts.
- Exhibitors and Hands on History include:
- The Journey of wool, sheep to weaving
- The 2 Battles of the Revolutionary War fought in Indiana
- STEM: 3 Sisters Garden and the Science of the Revolutionary War
- Art: Meet an 18th century painter
- Go on a spy mission for George Washington
- Watch brooms being made and hides being tanned
