Alpaca Meet & Feed - Heritage Farm Alpacas & Events

*The event has already taken place on this date: Sat, 10/19/2024
During this interactive tour you will learn about alpacas and have a chance to hand-feed a few. Heritage Farm is a great place to visit without having to book an overnight stay! We offer several opportunities for families and individuals to participate in hands-on farm activities through specially designed experiences. Each experience offers a unique opportunity for participants to become immersed in a farm activity and have a lot of fun while doing it. We'll start your adventure with a Q & A session about alpacas. Learn where they come from and why we raise them in Indiana. Learn how we care for them and how we make them comfortable in all seasons. You will also learn why alpacas are a sustainable source of quality fiber used to make all sorts of clothing and accessories. Then, you will get a chance to get up close and personal by feeding some of them out of your hand. At the end our interaction, you will spend some time in our farm store where you will see an array of wonderful alpaca clothing products. Check out what we have available and select the activities you are interested in by selecting the "Schedule an Experience" button. After your experience is over, you are welcome to spend as much time as you want on the farm. You can explore the creek and a hiking trail through the woods. There are several places to enjoy a picnic lunch.

Please help us keep this calendar up to date! If this activity is sold out, canceled, or otherwise needs alteration, email mindy@kidsoutandabout.com so we can update it immediately. If you have a question about the activity itself, please contact the organization administrator listed below.

Other things to note:
Alpacas and gentle and safe to be around. However, you will be on a working farm and there are inherent risks. After the experience is over you are welcome to stay and enjoy the farm on your own for a while. Cross the creek on a suspension bridge and hike our trails. Bring a picnic lunch and eat in the welcome barn or on one of the picnic tables in the woods.
